Honeysuckle

Just a few miles down the road from the Cottages at Canyon Peaks, you’ll find the latest addition to Hill Country dining: Honeysuckle. Posted on FM 32, right next to the Devils Backbone Tavern, Honeysuckle offers stunning views all the way to Wimberley from the rooftop deck. Food is served on the ground floor as well as the deck, and it’s Southern Comfort food at its best. The ribeye was delicious, as was the gumbo, pork chop and Gulf Snapper. Of course there are wings, tenders and burgers, as well as delicious sides including mashed potatoes, Mac & cheese, asparagus and green beans. It’s a fun atmosphere with music and gorgeous open air views.

Neon Armadillo

If you’ve been in the area long, you’ll remember Milagros Mexican food at the intersection of FM 32 and RR12. It was the go-to Tex Mex hangout and we were all sad when they closed. But the good news is Neon Armadillo has taken the concept to a whole new level. Not only great Tex Mex food and fabulous margaritas, but they’ve expanded the restaurant and outdoor space to accommodate hundreds instead of a handful. It’s quite the go-to place for Gen Z’s. The food is good, the drinks are excellent, and the atmosphere is elevated. It’s quite ’social” in that there is a lot of moving around: first to place your order, then to find a table, and if you brought the kiddos, an occasional trip to the side yard to watch them play. It’s a great place to grab a bite and meet new people — regardless of your age. 5 minutes down the road from Cottages at Canyon Peaks.

Chills is our go-to place when we’re shopping downtown Wimberley with a large group. There is something on the menu for everyone, and the burgers and fries are the best in town. McAdoo’s Seafood Co. & Oyster Bar, New Braunfels

McAdoo’s is our favorite place to eat seafood in the Hill Country. The menu is filled with Texas Creole favorites and fresh seafood. We especially enjoy the fried shrimp platter. Reservations highly recommended! Seating is indoor, outdoor and at the bar, but the place is always packed. It’s also a great place for private events — there are several seating areas that accommodate parties of 15 or more. The restaurant is actually the historic New Braunfels Post Office, which sound horrible, but is actually one of the most beautiful pieces of architecture in New Braunfels.
