Gingerbread House is inspired by the original German board and baton siding so often found in the Texas Hill Country. This is the only cottage at Canyon Peaks that is PET FRIENDLY, so instead of vintage shiplap floors, we have stenciled concrete throughout.

The large front porch has 2 rocking chairs and a table for your favorite beverage. The Gingerbread trim was handcrafted by Empire Woodworks in Blanco, Texas. The inside features vaulted ceilings throughout and is light-filled because of the large windows that allow guests to have wonderful Texas Hill Country views from both the bedroom and living room.

Creature Comforts in a Vintage Cottage

But don’t worry about your comfort – each cottage has a Lennox 2-ton air conditioner; the appliances and plumbing are all brand new, the sheets are cotton, and we have down comforters and pillows (let us know if you’d prefer hypo-allergenic and we will change out before you arrive).

The kitchen has a full fridge with a refrigerator, ice-maker, range, dishwasher, microwave, and coffee pot. The kitchen is stocked with cooking utensils, pots and pans, and of course plates, glasses, and silverware. We supply kitchen basics such as coffee, filters, salt, and pepper. We have a chicken coop and invite guests to take eggs as you need for your meals – they are delicious! We leave wine and cheese for your arrival.

There is a jacuzzi tub for soaking after a long day of antique shopping or visiting wineries.

About the architecture

The cottage was completed in 2016, but was designed with architectural elements and decor to give the house an authentic Hill Country farmhouse feel. The windows are true divided light, historic, and recovered from a house in the Highland Park area of Dallas, Texas. The 1/2 light front door came from our favorite vendor at Wimberley Trade Days.

Pet-Friendly Hill Country Cabin

This cottage is outfitted with concrete floors, meaning it’s completely pet-friendly! Pet fees are included in the room rate, and we ask that you crate your dog if you plan on leaving the house for an extended period. In order to not disturb the wildlife and other guests, we ask that dogs remain on a leash when outside.

The cottages are part of our 100+ acre ranch, and we invite you to hike the trails and enjoy the wildlife with or without your pet. We live on the ranch, so if you need anything, just call.

The Cottages At Canyon Peaks are located on the Eastern Edge of The Texas Hill Country, 50 miles southwest of downtown Austin and 52 miles northwest of downtown San Antonio.

We are within a few minutes drive in all directions to some of Texas’ most popular destinations — Wimberley, Canyon Lake, Gruene, New Braunfels, Blanco, and San Marcos.

Many of our guests choose to explore a different town each day of their trip. With our central location, you can drive 10 to 30 minutes in all directions and find something to see and do.

Enjoy shopping in one of the quaint little towns nearby during the day — Wimberley square and Gruene are both adorable towns full of shops and restaurants overlooking the river and creeks we are so blessed to have in the hill country. They both have Flea Market Weekends at least once a month.

There are also several wineries, breweries, great restaurants, art galleries, music venues (Gruene Hall, Devil’s Backbone Tavern), and more — all within a short, scenic drive away.

During warmer weather, you’ll enjoy the many local swimming holes and parks for swimming, fishing, tubing, kayaking, and boating. The Canyon Lake Marina is 10 minutes from our gate and Blue Hole in Wimberley is only 15 minutes away.
