Charming place to stay for a weekend getaway in the Hill Country. Vintage decor with all the modern amenities needed for a great experience. We stayed in the green cottage and enjoyed the comfy bed and thick cotton sheets. The cute kitchen had everything we needed for cooking meals. We even got fresh eggs from the onsite chicken coup! We particularly enjoyed gathering around the fire pit in the evenings.

You just can’t beat that level of service! The sheets in each cottages were cotton, the pillows were hypoallergenic, and the whole shabby chic vibe was executed perfectly. The floors were historic, old wood! I especially enjoyed the jacuzzi tub 🙂 All said, I would highly recommend the cottages to anyone looking for a relaxing stay in the Hill Country (the star gazing is phenom)..

A Few Of Our Favorite Things To Do In The Area

Wimberley, Texas

Wimberley is a  beautiful village located in a valley on the eastern edge of the Texas hill Country.  In the late 1930’s, the town became a retreat for couples and families who wanted to get away from the city and enjoy time together.

Wimberley is famous for its beautiful Blanco River winding through town as well as two swimming areas on Cypress Creek – both Blue Hole and Jacob’s Well have been named as top swimming hole in Texas by several different publications including Texas Monthly.

Wimberley is also famous for having the 2nd largest flea market in Texas – Wimberley Market Days and a unique shopping experience in the historic downtown area.

In recent years, as tourism has expanded across Texas, the area has become a popular destination and a number of vacation homes and cabins in the Texas Hill Country are located near this charming little Texas town.  It’s ideal for a romatic vacation to the Texas Hill Country. Be sure to dine at our favorite restaurant in Wimberley, The Leaning Pear.

Canyon Lake

This Texas Hill Country lake is just 35 miles northeast of San Antonio and 40 miles southwest of Austin. It’s a blue water lake with limestone sides and bottom with a maximum depth of 125 feet. This is a beautiful, deep, clear water lake constructed in the 1960’s by blocking the Guadalupe River. The marina/boat dock is only 9 minutes from the Cottages at Canyon Peaks.

Considered by some to be the “Water Recreation Capital of Texas,” Canyon Lake is an exceptional place to visit year round for recreational activities such as boating, jet skiing, nature walks, bird watching, hiking & biking trails, sunset cruises on the lake, and river excursions. The lake area also offers a variety of restaurants and places to shop. Eight Army Corps of Engineer public parks with excellent outdoor recreation opportunities are scattered along Canyon Lake’s 80 miles of shoreline.

Gruene

Gruene is home to Texas’ oldest dance hall, and has live music year round.  This is where Geroge Strait, Hal Ketchum and Lyle Lovett played before fame catapulted them to the colosseums.  Today you’ll hear a wide array of music, mostly singer-songwriters playing their own tune.

The town was almost demolished in the 1970’s, but was saved by a UT Architectural student who managed to get it placed on the National Register of Historic Places.  They sold off the buildings and began bringing the town back to life.

There’s plenty to do in Gruene when the music isn’t playing: Shopping, dining, and great people-watching, especially at one of the many festivals held throughout the year.  The town is an old German settlement dating back to the 1840’s.  Stroll around town and admire the buildings that have stood for almost 200 years, including the old Gristmill which is now an architectural wonder and fairly decent restaurant.
